National Investment Commission (NIC) Deputy Chairman Salar Mohammed Amin met with a delegation of Canadian, American, Spanish and local technology companies to discuss accelerating Iraq's digital transformation, particularly as the country advances major development and reconstruction programmes.

The meeting reviewed priority digital investment projects, including the national fibre-optic project and the smart cities initiative, for which the NIC has developed technical standards in cooperation with government ministries and organised a dedicated smart cities forum with private-sector partners.

Discussions also addressed the use of advanced environmental data technologies to help Iraq respond to climate challenges. The NIC is working with the Ministry of Environment and specialised firms to develop joint mechanisms for collecting and analysing data and enabling innovative private-sector solutions.

Participants highlighted Iraq's strategic position and strong potential to become a regional hub for modern technologies, expressing full support for the government's efforts to strengthen public-private partnerships in the digital economy.
