The State Oil Marketing Organisation (SOMO) has issued a clarification in response to a Reuters report on 26 September 2025 regarding DNO's export activities.

SOMO reaffirmed its commitment to fulfilling all obligations within its mandate and under existing agreements with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), continuing efforts to ensure the smooth flow of crude oil exports from the region despite logistical challenges and limited storage capacity at the Turkish port of Ceyhan.

SOMO confirmed that, in line with the agreement between the central government and the KRG, all international companies operating in Kurdistan's oil fields are required to deliver the crude oil they produce to SOMO, with the exception of oil designated for local consumption.

It said the KRG has repeatedly renewed its commitment to the terms of the agreement, and SOMO emphasised its dedication to transparency and coordination with relevant authorities to maintain stable export operations for the public interest.
