The Embassy of Iraq in Ankara has begun issuing electronic visas, marking the first deployment of the system outside the country.
The launch was overseen by Ambassador Majid Al-Lajmawi and Nashat Ibrahim Al-Khafaji, Director General of the Directorate of Civil Status, Passports and Residence.
The initiative is part of a joint programme by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Interior to modernise consular services and accelerate digital transformation. It is designed to simplify visa procedures for Turkish citizens, reduce processing times, and improve the overall quality of service.
Officials said the system modernises the visa process, increases efficiency, and strengthens confidence in the services provided to visitors.
